The war against terrorism and oil prices decreased in Iraq running a deficiency in its 2015 financial plan. This has been joined by pressures in the country and adjacent nations because of military operations next to the Islamic State. On the other hand, the present environment has not halted the Ministry of Transport from advancing on executing planned projects.

In an interview by a good source to (in courtesy of Al-Monitor) with Transport Minister Baqir Jabr al-Zubeidi, he said that the most ideal approach to beat Iraq’s remarkable circumstances is to create plans that are both sensible and additionally stable. As conditions bear noteworthy monetary difficulties and preclude certain improvement projects, Zubeidi affirmed that development ought not to stop, even in the midst of the hardest difficulties.

Maybe, excellent conditions force diverse ways to deal with planning and activity. Zubeidi’s service is keeping on finishing significant ventures in the transportation area, receiving extraordinary components and systems to beat the shortage of budget allowance and the temperamental security situation.

Al-Monitor asked, “What are the Ministry of Transport’s strategies, and what are its priorities?”

Zubeidi answered, “It is well known that the Ministry of Transport has huge requirements given its large projects. Coincidentally, the country has suffered a budget deficit and exceptional security conditions, which make the situation even more difficult. Practical and realistic plans have facilitated our tasks and allowed us to properly manage the ministry’s agenda. Our priorities are the completion of planned projects and finding other ways and means to overcome the budget deficit.”

Al-Monitor: What do you mean by “different ways and means”?

Zubeidi: “Investments and joint investments. The ministry never hesitated to put its projects out to tender for foreign companies, and this proved to be a great success. But the investment process is not easy. It is a double-edged sword if not properly handled. The Ministry of Transport’s projects are huge and expensive projects, and any mistake in retaining the right company or adopting an inappropriate plan might be disastrous.”

Around 56 miles south of Baghdad, the city of Babil’s ruins have flourished as the ancient Mesopotamian center of Babylon, established since the 19th century BC. During that time, the city has experienced neglects and deprived treatment of its structures. Iraqi cultural officials have discussed about the renovation of city tourism.

There are two events of the current time that enormously added to endangering or wrecking parts of Babil’s ancient legacy. Initially, the renovation involved under former President Saddam Hussein as a component of his political-development program. Year 1988, a percentage of the structures were revamped in such a route, to the point that UNESCO challenged that the progressions debilitated Babil’s memorable position. The city was removed by the UNESCO from its World Heritage List that same year.

Jeff Allen, field administrator for the project of Future of Babylon, told Deutsche Welle on June 21, 2013, that the work was in progress to reestablish Babil to the UNESCO World Heritage List by uprooting all the advanced remodels made to the city in 1980, such as the Ishtar Gate concrete slabs.

The “US-led military invasion in 2003” was the second event. The ruins were further damaged when the powers of the Coalition Provisional Authority set up Camp Alpha in Babil, annihilating parts of the archeological record with their utilization of heavy equipment, bringing on the demolition of a few structures.

Col. John C. Coleman, US military officer, apologized for the harm done in April 2006. The UNESCO discharged a report on harm to the city in June 2009, then after 2003.

While trying to take tourists back to Babil, the cultural authorities are concentrating on organizing out visits and advancing the city as a spot for celebrations and meetings. The city as of now has the Babylon Festival for International Cultures and Arts, held in the spring. It highlights verse and expressive arts occasions, and theater exhibitions. The seven-day 2015 celebration commenced April 10.

Iran’s Minister of road and urban development will visit Iraq before long in an offer to seek after a plan to connect the railroad systems of the two adjacent nations.

According to Abbas Akhoundi, Iranian minister, Iran’s railroad track will be reached out up to Shalamcheh and then associated with Iraq’s railroad by means of a bridge.

The transport ministers of Iraq and Iran have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the railroad transportation collaboration development last December 31. Under this deal, the two parties consented to construct 37 km of railroad connecting the Shalamcheh in Iran and Basra in Iraq, consequently connecting the two railways of these two nations.

This project will make it workable for the neighboring nations to elevate the volume of their economic transactions and business by transport of more passengers and cargoes.

The agreement sees the 700-meter suspension bridge development to connect over Arvand River as an imperative for Iran-Iraq railroads development.

Akhoundi reported, “I will visit Iraq today to discuss the details of the issue with the Iraqi side and reach an agreement.”

Meanwhile, Mohammad Baqer Nobakht , the representative for the Iranian administration, confirmed that the cabinet has issued the request to connect Iran’s railroad system to Iraq.

He said, “This project can be beneficial for further communication between the two neighboring countries and the two nations, especially for the pilgrims traveling to the holy city of Karbala.”

Hanwha Group, the 10th biggest conglomerate in Iraq, confirmed that its building affiliate was the lucky one to received the $2.12 billion construction project for building foundation for Iraq’s new city.

Hanwha Engineering & Construction will construct the social base under the conformity with Iraq’s National Investment Commission (NIC). The project includes the 300 schools, police headquarters, hospitals, and firehouses within Bismayah located in southeast Baghdad.

This takes after from a past arrangement that the company had made in Iraq last 2012, when Hanwha Engineering won the $8 billion Bismayah New City Project, which was the greatest city improvement in the country. The Bismayah construction venture is expected to be finished in 2019, as agreed with the company.

In similar statement, the company said, “Hanwha Engineering has won over $10 billion worth of orders from the Iraqi project alone, taking the lead in rebuilding the war-torn nation.”

Hanwha Group executive Kim Seung-yeon has been saving no push to make the project a win. He has gone to the Middle Eastern nation three times since the development began, regardless of the erratic civil wars in Iraq.

The NIC executive Dr. Sami R. Al Araji, was cited in an announcement saying he expressed gratitude to the workers of the company who steadfastly regarded the development project as opposed to escaping the country.

In view of common trust assembled amid the current development ventures Hanwha Engineering will be very much situated for more business open opportunities in the country of Iraq, which plans to construct more new urban areas like Bismayah.

The governor of al-Diwaniyah province, Ammar al-Madani, made known to the public that an agreement was already signed up recently with a Kuwaiti company for the development of the airport of Diwaniyah project, as well as, more commercial projects with a budget cost of 1.3 billion dinars.

Governor Ammar al-Madani of Diwaniyah said, “On Wednesday, the provincial council has signed up a contract with a Kuwaiti company to build several commercial projects including Diwaniyah Airport.”

He also noted that the total cost will run up to 1.3 billion dinars together with the 430 million dinars which is the budget for the construction of the Diwaniyah airport.

The actual area of the airport to be constructed is as vast as 7 acres over and above other 7 acres to hold any development plan in the future.

Al-Madani said that this project will be under the supervision of the Kuwaiti company for the next forty five years.

Another update with Kuwait alliance was the visit of the Minister of Oil, Adil Abul-Mahdi, to Kuwait.

Adil Abul-Mahdi has visited Kuwait last week to join the Energy Conference, with the other Arab ministers of Energy. The conference will talk about the global turn down of oil prices and will endeavor to come across joint mechanisms of work to put off further decline, as stated by the Ministry.
